Peabody award-winning investigative journalist and filmmaker Habiba
Nosheen will join the popular CBC show Fifth Estate as a new co-host in January 2017. Nosheen will join other hosts of the show's 42nd season launching this October.
Born in Lahore, Pakistan, she immigrated to Canada when she was nine. She is a double master from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and York University, Toronto. She began her reporting career from Pakistan for CBC Radio and was later selected for the prestigious Kroc Fellowship, where she reported on-air for NPR's Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Nosheen’s stories have been published by The New York Times, TIME, The Washington Post, BBC, and ProPublica.
Her film Outlawed in Pakistan won her Peabody award on Outstanding Research. Nominated for Emmy and Peabody awards for her reporting for "60 minutes." Nosheen has also received numerous awards including the Gracie award for Outstanding Reporter/Correspondent, two Overseas Press Club Awards, The Dart Award for Excellence in Coverage of Trauma, Third Coast Radio Award, two South Asian Journalist Association Awards in addition to being a finalist for The Livingston Award for Young Journalists and nominated for an Emmy.
